Maureen Fischer is a thriller and short story writer with a background in journalism and marketing. A former reporter for United Press International, she built a second career as a copywriter and brand strategist, crafting compelling narratives for global brands. Her fiction has earned recognition including a Writer’s Digest Short Story Award and publication in the crime anthology Once Upon a Crime.
In 2013–2014, she was selected for the Loft Literary Center’s competitive Mentorship Program, which pairs emerging Minnesota writers with nationally acclaimed authors for a year of intensive craft development.
She lives with her husband in Eden Prairie, Minnesota, and owns an Airbnb on Pokegama Lake in Pine City that’s booked solid in summer—though it has a habit of inspiring more questions than answers. She’s fairly certain it’s plotting its own book.
